Thinking ICBC represents you when you’re injured in an accident is not true. ICBC represents them.<\/p>\n

We are fortunate that insurance is mandatory in BC and most likely ICBC is the insurance company defending the claim against you.
\nIt\u2019s not you that ICBC represent, but the defendant. You may have heard the term \u201cthird party liability insurance\u201d. You are the third party. That\u2019s why personal injury lawyers always tell you to call them first. So giving a statement and authorizations to ICBC instead of through a personal injury lawyer is not in your best interests, this gives ICBC the opportunity to get information they may not be entitled to under the law and use it against you.<\/p>\n
